Why do some people say “stop feeling sorry for yourself?”

Why do some people say “stop feeling sorry for yourself” when you’re unhappy and in pain for something that’s not even your fault. How is that even consider feeling sorry for yourself when the other person hurt you?

  1. Personally I think it’s because most people think in absolutes. Where as nothing is that concrete but more so a hazy grey area. Like if someone goes through a breakup or something life altering they apply the logic what they do instead of trying to understand more than their viewpoint. I always try to make it a point to try to show that not everyone is the same, some can handle the pressure and others crack under the weight. And really, it’s not a weakness in the grand picture. It simply means one needs help, everyone needs help at one point or another right?
